Vandals trash Mossman Uniting Church in overnight break-in

Vandals caused significant damage to the Mossman Uniting Church during a break and enter in the night between Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26. While nothing was stolen, the damage was extensive and appears to have been pure vandalism.

Solar farm plan for highway just north of Port Douglas

A new 7ha solar farm is being proposed for the corner of the Captain Cook Highway and Killaloe Dump Road between Port Douglas and Mossman on a parcel of land next door to Vic’s Nursery.

Mossman Show making triumphant return

The Mossman Show Ball is being revived after decades in hiatus. Show Society president Matty Hatfield said the Mossman hall would be fully decorated for the show cabaret to be held on Saturday, June 21.

JOB TITLE: THEATRE ADMINISTRATOR

Are you passionate about the performing arts and thrive in an administrative and leadership role? The Douglas Theatre Arts Group (DTAG) is seeking a dedicated Theatre Administrator to oversee the operational and volunteer management aspects of our community-driven theatre. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the vibrant cultural life of Port Douglas while supporting the success of local productions.

Job Description: As the Theatre Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the theatre. Your responsibilities in this contract role will include: • Administrative Management: Overseeing office operations, maintaining records, coordinating schedules, and ensuring smooth communication with trades, artists, production teams, and board members. • Event Coordination: Managing the theatre's calendar for rehearsals, performances, and special events, while assisting with financial administration. • Volunteer Management: Recruiting, training, and rostering volunteers, maintaining an updated membership database, and fostering a positive environment for volunteer engagement. • Bar Operations Oversight: Supervising bar services, including inventory management, volunteer coordination, and compliance with health and licensing standards.

This is a contract position requiring up to 20 hours of work per week an ABN will be required.
