MAIL SORTING / RETAIL ASSISTANT

The Port Douglas Licensed Post Office (the PD LPO) are looking for a permanent part time employee to complement the existing team. We have a couple of possible options to offer any prospective applicants.
Option 1 is for someone to contract to provide mail sorting skills for up to two hours between 06.00 and 08.00 Mondays to Fridays - while
Option 2 could be for the right and interested person a broader offering of the Mail Sorter who then transitions to the retail desk to finish their daily shifts.

Option 1 – applicants who have a working knowledge the Streets of Port Douglas / Craiglie will definitely be deemed to have an advantage.
Option 2 - The position will require you to further develop and /or use your customer service skills, any experience in retailing, merchandising, stock ordering as well as probably new skills in mail and parcel management as well as mastering the mail / parcel sorting function.

The PD LPO operates between 06.00 to 17.15 weekdays as well Saturdays between 08.45 and 12.15 each 14 day pay cycle. There will also be the need to provide cover for planned leave events as well as unscheduled leave situations.

Both positions will require a access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s licence and have a physical element involved in sorting the large parcels.

There will be formal and inhouse training so you can build on your existing capacities to enable you to fit seamlessly into our strong and happy team. There are comprehensive training programs, primarily undertaking during work hours which are designed to complement and build on your existing set of skills where applicable. Previous Australia Post or banking would be of distinct advantage. An understanding of point-of-sale computer systems will be an advantage with intermediate computer skills a requirement.

Australia Post is in the process of reforming and reorienting itself - in the future there will be more services being offered so good clerical and intermediate computer skills will be an advantage. The postal service has survived world wars, pandemics as well as recessions.

OFFICE MANAGER

This is a full-time position for a busy event hire company.
This position requires someone who is well organised, has a great work ethic and can confidently lead a team.
They must be prepared to work in a busy and creative environment, working closely with event coordinators to undertake the following tasks:

- First point of contact with clients
- Liaising between owners and staff daily
- Liaising with venue managers
- Working with event planners to provide solutions for all equipment for both small and large scale weddings and corporate events
- Assisting in recruitment of warehouse staff & training
- Staff rosters and planning of daily duties for all staff
- Ensure policies are up-to-date and followed by staff
- Providing quotes and converting into confirmed bookings for clients
- Social media – Website, Facebook & Instagram
- Scheduling of maintenance to furniture & vehicles
- Accounts – Issuing invoices for goods and services
- Running of our online management system
- Logistics and planning of delivery/ collections
- Weekend and evening out of hours phone
- Willingness to help in all areas as required
- All emails responding to gas (BOC) correspondence
- Ordering of new equipment
- Weekly meetings
