Ironman road-closure impact to be part of tourism review

Douglas Shire’s peak tourism body will closely examine this Sunday’s Ironman Cairns event to see how improvements can be made for locals and tourists, but the council will not be asking for compensation from race organisers for operators who lose money from Captain Cook Highway road closures.

Are you passionate about media, sales, and working with a dynamic team in a vibrant community? Newsport is on the lookout for a talented Sales Representative (Part-Time or Full-Time) to help us grow our advertising sales across three exciting platforms: our well-loved newspaper, digital channel, and magazine.

About the Role You’ll play a key role in driving revenue, with a primary focus on our bi-weekly newspaper. Over time, you'll also be supporting sales for our online platform and magazine.

Key Responsibilities

• Sell print, digital, and magazine advertising to local and regional businesses.

• Build and nurture long-term client relationships.

• Manage advertising bookings, client briefs, and campaign follow-ups.

• Take over newspaper distribution duties (own vehicle required)

About You

• Proven experience in newspaper and/or magazine sales.

• Confident communicator with a genuine passion for helping businesses thrive.

• Able to work independently while being a great team player.

• Organised, reliable, and driven to meet sales targets.

• Must have a valid driver’s licence and access to a car.
