TRAINEE VETERINARY NURSEPort Douglas Vets needs more hands on deck! Are you looking for a new career? A fantastic opportunity has opened up to join our team as a Veterinary Nurse (entry-level) - the best bit? No experience is required!The role of a Veterinary Nurse includes (but is not limited to):- Assist vets with routine exams- Surgical and hospital nursing including monitoring anaesthetics- Prepare and administer medication as required- Admission and discharge of hospital and surgical patients- Blood collection and testing, including IV catheter placement- Assist with radiographs and ultrasound- Cleaning and sterilisation of instruments- General day-to-day nursing duties to support our team- Assist with dental scale and polish- General cleaning duties- Booking appointments and taking phone calls- The opportunity to complete Veterinary Nursing qualificationsTraining will be provided for the above.What we are looking for:- Not afraid to get your hands dirty- Proactive and self-motivated- Willingness to learn safe and effective animal handling skills- Team player- Ability to multitask- A keen eye for the finer details- Capable of working under pressure- the good, the sad, the in-between all matter- Computer skills- Excellent phone etiquette- Effective communication skills within the team and with clientsWe have a flexible work ethic, and we emphasise the importance of work-life balance. We have set rosters and do not expect our nurses to work outside of that. We always make time for lunch, no matter how busy! We also have downtime, and we allow time for training and continual professional development, staff meetings with delicious lunch courtesy of Harry and Cameron from the local Thai or burger joint. You are invited to attend an information session to find out about flying-foxes and management options and share your ideas.
