Moving Mossman Dawn Service heralds in Anzac Day
Speckles of light rain greeted onlookers who gathered at the Mossman Cenotaph at 5.15am this morning to hear a moving Dawn Service - many a rusted-on local will tell you rain is the usual occurrence on Anzac Day morning in Douglas Shire.

FRONT OFFICE RECEPTIONIST | GUEST SERVICE OFFICER – HOLIDAY RENTALS

Position Overview We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Front Office Receptionist – Guest Service Agent to join our team. This role is responsible for assisting with front office operations, handling guest inquiries and reservations, and ensuring a seamless guest experience. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, the ability to work both independently and within a team, a positive solution-focused attitude and a friendly personality.
Key Responsibilities: • Manage daily front office operations, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, guest enquiries and reservations. • Manage check-ins/check-outs, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. • Provide guest support and coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance. • Maintain records, reservations systems and financial transactions. • Assist with invoicing and reconciling financial records to ensure compliance. • Work collaboratively to support a positive and efficient team environment.
Skills & Experience: • Experience in front office, property management, or hotel reservations preferred. • Familiarity with Resly and booking platforms (Stayz, Airbnb, Booking.com) beneficial. • Strong administrative skills, proficiency in office software, and reservation systems. • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills. • Ability to multitask, work independently, and adapt to changing priorities. • Professional, friendly, and well-presented. • Availability for weekends, public holidays, and immediate start.
Additional Information: • Must be an Australian permanent resident and reside in Port Douglas. • Five-day workweek, including weekends. • Competitive salary and opportunity to be part of a locally owned and operated business.

Hotel Receptionist Front Desk
Bay Villas Resort is currently searching for a passionate, motivated and enthusiastic Front Desk Receptionist to join their friendly team 5 days a week or be split between two individuals. Experience not a necessity. Full training can be provided to the right person. The duties and responsibilities will include: • Perform accurate and efficient guest check-in, check-outs and accurate credit card, cash handling and postings . • Maintaining guest accounts • Telephone reservations and dealing with different internet distribution channels. • A professional and welcoming phone manner • Assisting with all guest enquiries, including tours • Overseeing daily housekeeping team Hotel Front Desk Requirements: • Previous hospitality experience would be advantageous. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Well-presented and professional appearance. • Competency with Microsoft Office. • Ability to learn on the job. • Excellent customer service skills.

It's My Time Fitness, Mossman Showgrounds, has availability for use of our spacious air conditioned premises, on a casual regular basis. There are flexible options for room hire only, or offering classes promoted on our club timetable.
Our club features gym mat flooring throughout, some fitness equipment, toilet facility, kitchen and limited storage. We are ideally located in the fitness precinct next to the oval, with adjacent undercover areas, so you can utilise the outdoors as well as indoors.
The space would suit (but not limited to) Pilates, Fitness circuits, Boxing for fitness, Self Defence, Kids classes, Meditation....the choice is yours.
