Your opportunity To provide an effective and efficient support service to clients and personnel of the Mossman Multipurpose Health Service through a high standard of work performance whilst adhering to and maintaining Queensland Health’s guidelines and standards; and complying with relevant legislation.
Your role
Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with CHHHS values as outlined above.
Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and work policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Ensure the confidentiality of patient and facility information, by recognising the need for client/patient privacy to be respected at all times.
Builds and maintains good working relationships by communicating openly and effectively with management, staff and clients.
Participates within a team by effectively contributing to the Operational Service Department and the District’s quality activities and processes.
With minimum supervision daily work routines are performed to a high standard by following the Work Task Instructions, maintaining full compliance to OH&S practices, Infection Control policy, Waste policy, District and Department policies and in accordance with the Queensland Health Catering, Cleaning, Laundry, Standards and Guidelines meeting required time frames.
Maintain facility cleaning programme including routine basic maintenance of equipment not subject to trade qualifications. General internal and external cleaning duties which include light and heavy cleaning tasks such as cleaning high and lows, including walls and ceilings, cleaning of windows, security screens, furniture and fittings, sweeping of pathways, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping of floor surfaces associated with clinical and non-clinical areas. The collection and removal of all waste.
Provide efficient Laundry services following all Workplace Health and Safety guidelines.
Assist in the distribution of all patient food service requirements in accordance with Mossman Multipurpose Health Service Food Safety Program and legislation.
Provide non-clinical support to clinicians through porterage services such as patient handling and patient transportation following all Workplace Health and Safety guidelines.
Provide non-clinical support through stores requisitioning and courier services.
Ensure safe practices in regard to manual handling, use of chemicals and food handling; and infection control by complying with all Qld. Health policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
Perform other duties as directed by Line management.
While not mandatory, a relevant qualification (i.e. Certificate in Food Handling or equivalent) or willingness to work towards a relevant qualification would be well regarded. Potential applicants are advised that Section 63-1A of the Aged Care Act 1997 requires Queensland Health to seek a criminal conviction record report from the Australian Federal Police; conduct a search of bankruptcy records; and conduct previous employment and referee checks.
This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘Your role’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated ability or ability to acquire skills in the area of catering, laundry and cleaning services.
Demonstrated communication skills, self-motivation and time management in day-to-day duties.
Ability to work without supervision, follow instructions, set work priorities, demonstrated organisational
skills and meet deadlines.
An appreciation of the needs of clients, in particular maintaining confidentiality.
Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational workplace health and safety and ethical behaviour.
Ability to safely and correctly operate all equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and local workplace health and safety guidelines.
Basic computer skills.

Your opportunity Coordinate the provision of high quality and efficient cooking service through production of quality food menu items for a variety of client diets.
Your role

Coordinate the provision of high quality and efficient catering service by ensuring that the food production and presentation methods are in accordance with standards, procedures and work schedules.
Coordinate the production and distribution services to ensure all meals are delivered in a timely manner and ensure that food portion control is in accordance with dietary requirements.
Supervision of all catering staff ensuring that all Queensland Health hygiene standards and guidelines are maintained in the facility.
Provide and record training for all kitchen staff on the correct methods of kitchen cleaning and catering functions, including chemical and equipment usage ensuring direction towards quality service and staff development. Ensure all kitchen staff attends mandatory training as required.
Ensure that the maintenance of food and kitchen supplies is adequate by ensuring that the requisitioning, quality checking, temperature control, stock rotation and correct storage methods is utilised and appropriate.
Actively initiate, participate and contribute to Quality Improvement within the organisation to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service.
Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulation and standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination policies.
Other duties as required by Line and Facility Manager.
While not mandatory, a relevant qualification (i.e. Certificate III or higher and/or substantial practical experience in the preparation of food within a similar type and size facility) or willingness to work towards a relevant qualification would be well regarded. – Successful completion of relevant Certificate II, III or IV training programs will be recognised for the purpose of receiving an additional increment point or all-purpose allowance under the Queensland Public Health Sector Certified Agreement (No.4) 2000. – The appointee will be required to work a 7-day roster with flexible rostering patterns. – Additional hours than those advertised to cover recreational and sick leave.

Demonstrated high level cooking skills and a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques of cookery including the use of commercial food preparation equipment effectively, safely and economically in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
Demonstrated ability to ensure that a high standard of hygiene is maintained in accordance with the Food Safety programme, infectious control and Queensland Health guidelines.
Ability to work without direct supervision while performing all cooking duties to the Queensland Health standards.
Ability to provide guidance to other kitchen staff including supervision skills, support and relevant training.
Ability to follow directions given regarding dietary requirements and guidelines as set by the dietitians.
