TRAINEE VET NURSE
Port Douglas Vets is looking to expand our vet nursing team! If you're seeking a new long-term career, we have a fantastic opportunity for a trainee Veterinary Nurse position – no experience needed!
Here at Port Douglas Vets, we aim to exceed expectations and deliver a high standard of care from the moment our clients and patients walk through the door. We focus not only on the pet's health but also on the experience through the veterinary process, whether that be a puppy vaccination or a quality-of-life consultation. As a veterinary nurse, you will play a pivotal role in the care and management of our patients.
Main duties include: Assist vets with routine exams Assist with surgery and hospital care Monitor anaesthetics Prepare and administer medication Admit and discharge patients Collect blood samples and place IV catheters Assist with x-rays and ultrasounds Clean and sterilize instruments Perform dental cleans and assist with dental procedures Book appointments and answer calls General practice cleaning and maintenance Opportunity to complete Veterinary Nursing qualifications
What we’re looking for: Able to stay calm under pressure Have excellent communication and customer service skills Proactive and eager to learn Team player Good multitasker with attention to detail Willing to get your hands dirty Good computer and phone skills Initiative and willingness to learn Awareness of the highs and lows of the veterinary industry
